STEPS Graduate Fellowships Announced
The STEPS Institute has recruiting funds available for the coming 2004-2005
year to attract three stellar prospective graduate students interested
in pursuing interdisciplinary environmental research on the major STEPS
research priorities. These funds have been made available through a generous
anonymous donor for the purpose of advancing work on the STEPS research
priorities and attracting the best environmental graduate students to
UCSC. Each STEPS graduate fellow will undertake a environmental research
program that links one or more aspects of environmental science, technology,
engineering, policy, and society.

STEPS Seed Grants available for UCSC Faculty
The STEPS Institute now has funds available to help UCSC faculty develop
interdisciplinary collaborations in environmental research. The funds are
from UCSC, UC Office of the President, donations that established the Institute,
and a new anonymous donation. The goal of these funds is to help develop
long-term interdisciplinary collaborations among UCSC faculty within the
major research themes of the STEPS Institute: rapidly changing genetic
diversity within and among ecosystems; changing aquatic resources mediated
by environmental and societal changes; and biological, physical, and social
effects of regional climate change. |
